12/7/2023 - Mysterious Canine Cough Update

From trupanion.com:  In response to continued reports of an upswing in respiratory illness impacting dogs across various US states, Trupanion recently convened a panel of global veterinary authorities and thought leaders to discuss this timely topic.

Visit k9illness.trupanion.com to register for updates.

From Acres Mill Vet Clinic: We don't know what's causing the mysterious cough we're hearing about in the news, and we are recommending our canine patients stay away from boarding, grooming, dog parks and other types of environments if at all possible.  Be cautious of pets coming in for the holidays and unknown dogs in the neighborhood.

Please make an appointment if your dog is coughing and call when you arrive, do not come inside with your pet. We will direct you where to park after you check-in.

There is no known vaccine for this cough.  Please make sure your dog is up to date on vaccines that are available, such as the canine h3n8/h3n2 flu, Bordetella, parainfluenza and others.
